Rotary Club of Oak Bay

Bulletin, 14 January, 2020

President Joan enthusiastically opened the meeting with minimal technology support. It was vintage acoustic Joan, unplugged!
No microphone sound, no O Canada video – undeterred, we ventured out with an inspiring acapella O Canada and Donny O with a heartfelt invocation.
Lunch was great with a great squash soup! We sat at our committee-designated tables. Ann Sim was seen to make several surreptitious trips to the chocolate-based dessert pieces!
Adam led us through a thorough review of the club’s new website. He has done an amazing job building, refining, maintaining our website. Everyone indicated they learned new things, features, capabilities. Thanks Adam for both building it and explaining it!! Check out the YouTube and comment features!!
Joan Peggs, Celebration Master, gave us much to celebrate (and pay for generously!)! We celebrated getting to the meeting in the snow; having ice and snow tires; investing in salt and much more!! We also chatted about getting the club to Every Rotarian Every Year status. For people when they have birthdays, club anniversaries and/or marriage anniversaries, they may want to contribute at least $25 USD to the Rotary Foundation to celebrate.
Robust “Happy and Sad” dollars included lots of contributions.
Committees met for 15 minutes to complete their work this month. Lots of positive feedback on usefulness of having monthly committee working meetings.
Joan Peggs advised that the Victoria Chinatown Lioness New Year fund raising dinner will be at the Garden City Restaurant on Feb.1st @ 6:00pm @ $50/person. Call Amanda Mills @ 250-727-0222!!
John Jordan won the 50/50. Ceci won the secret draw!! Both at the same table (happened to be my table!) Please sit with me and you may increase your odds of winning cash and merchandize prizes!!
