More than 30 people attended today’s meeting chaired on zoom by President Joan.

Lorna broke the ice with comments regarding her participation in the District Training Conference held on Saturday past. This year the conference was conducted on line for the first time and more than 800 people attended. The symbolic district gavel was passed from outgoing DG Mo to incoming DG Greg Horne (from Lakewood) with a giant virtual toss.

After the National Anthem, Atam delivered the invocation.
Guests were introduced including Wyn Spiller, Joey Vaesen, Jim Hicke and Naida Hyde.

Notwithstanding the current virus crisis Polio Plus remains active. This year there have been 52 cases worldwide recorded so far.
Peter Lawrie discussed Youth Services. A major review of future activities during the current health situation is under way, in order to determine what actions are to be taken from this point forward. A draft mission statement is to be reviewed soon by our club’s Board.

The Celebrations Master asked who had set sail from France in 1534? The answer; Jacques Cartier. If you have gained weight since isolation pay a fine of a dollar per pound. Noted birthdays for David and Krista as well as an anniversary for Will and Jill Carter.  Fines are now payable online to the Club.

Today’s Speaker is Treska Watson from the Mustard Seed food security distribution center which has been operational since 2016. About 30,000 people are supported by this service every month including people from Mayne and Galliano Islands. Rotary has been a partner in this project from the beginning.
