Rotary Club of Oak Bay

Good afternoon - just a brief update after our very successful Zoom meeting yesterday. Thank you to all who made the effort to attend and I was impressed that we had no hiccups, everyone was on time (almost) and in fact it was a great meeting overall. Eve
ryone seemed very happy to see one another!

It was nice to hear Janette from Down Under - thanks to her for being on the call, which to her was at 6:15 AM! She is doing well and will be staying in Australia for awhile longer - she is regularly looking in on her mother who is in a care home and undergoing all the protocols that the virus is bringing - in the meantime both are safe and sound. There were 23 people on the call, including Gillian Carrigan from the District Youth Exchange committee and our shared exchange student Henrik!

Rotary updates included Jack stepping down from the club Board due to extracurricular commitments that have popped up on Tuesdays and he has been replaced by incoming Public Image Chair Adam, just 3 months early! Welcome to the Board Adam and thank you for stepping up.

Our next virtual Zoom meeting will be on Tuesday, April 7th as per our weekly schedule. You will receive the Zoom link a few days before. Please let me know in good time if there is anything in particular you would like me to put on the Agenda. Given that we have roughly half an hour of social time at our meetings, I will open up the Zoom call at noon so that you can all chat with one another before the meeting starts!

In the meantime, I mentioned a couple of things on the call that you can do to keep engaged in Rotary - go to rotary.org and make sure you register for My Rotary while you're there! Spend some time on the website and see the myriad of resources that are available. Go to oakbayrotary.ca and spend some time on our own website and see all the good work that Adam has done!

What I didn't mention yesterday, was to go to http://yex.rotary5170.org/ave_youth/YPATraining.asp?DistrictID=5020 and complete the Youth Protection Awareness Training - with time to sit at the computer and complete this requirement, no better time than now. If the link doesn't work from here just copy and paste into your browser. And lastly........check out the new Rotary Learning Center at rotary.org/learn - you will be surprised at what you might learn! :)

Thanks everyone - stay safe, healthy and keep the physical distancing as your top priority.
Cheers,
Joan
