Club Committee Day
 
A well-attended meeting with a lively start with great music, thank you President Joan.
President Joan reminded us that March is Water, Sanitation & Hygiene month.
 
We sang O Canada to the Wiggles, followed by the Invocation from Anne Sims – thank you Anne.
 
Heather Aked introduced our visitors:
Rotarians:
Andy & Michelle Anderson – Brentwood Bay Club. Andy was here to promote their LobsterFest happening May 20th. Tickets are $90 each and you get a partial tax receipt. Funds raised go to the Disabled Riding Association.  CANCELLED
 
Rotaractors:
Christopher Dietlein- This is Christopher’s last meeting as he is moving to Vancouver to Article and he hopes to become engaged. SHE SAID YES!

Joan Peggs gave us an update on DTAC- District Training and Conference being held May 15 & 16th. She encourages all of us to look at the event and consider attending. Some funding has been set aside for this and it is particularly beneficial for new members.  CANCELLED
 
Christopher Dietlein of Rotaract gave last call for the raffle tickets that they are selling – proceeds go to the Victoria Intercultural Association that is sponsoring a Syrian Family.
 
Vicky Pitt was the Celebrations Master. There were no birthdays to announce but a 6 year Rotary anniversary for Janna & Ryan. Congratulations!
 
 
Directors Reports
International Service - Kris filled in for John Jordan who was absent and gave a very detailed report on ongoing projects in Mexico and Rwanda.
 
Community Service –Wendy Townsend presented
Wendy also gave a very detailed report and a list of the projects has now been posted on our website at oakbayrotary.ca.  Thanks Adam.
 
Oak Bay Rec Centre: want to purchase 2-3 Defibrillators at $1700-$2000 each. They could be the beneficiary for next year from the Thrifty Foods SMILE program?

Victoria Refugee Society
Salvation Army Kettles at Christmas
Food Rescue Program
Craigflower School food distribution
Soap for Hope
Magic of Christmas and Easter at Butchart Gardens
Painting/Maintenance at Rotary Waterpark at Carnarvon Park.
Youth Service – presented by Steve Sharlow
Interact Breakfast is held once a month at Oak Bay high. Next breakfast is scheduled for March 25 - CANCELLED
RYLA- Interviews completed and Interactor Ian chosen.  CANCELLED
 
Steve encouraged us to take the Youth Protection Awareness training online as it is all information we need in order to participate in youth programs.

Club Administration – presented by Heather Aked
 
This group is responsible for running the meetings. The duties include:
• club friendship
• Duty Roster
• Ideas for speakers
Planned outing to William Head on March 31st, ok to bring a friend, be prepared to spend most of the afternoon there. Ride share is being planned.  CANCELLED
Heather thanked us for finding replacements if we could not do our duties.
 
Membership – Presented by Ben Smillie
We currently have 56 active members. Good news is that we have some potential new members in the pipeline.
Please use the small invitation cards to invite guests to a meeting with a complimentary lunch. A reminder we are ALL a part of the Membership Committee.
This year we had 6 new members but will lose a few due to work or health by the end of the year.
 
Public Image - Presented by Adam for Jack 
Continual posting on Facebook.
Adam is doing a 60 second video that will highlight some of the projects that our club is doing using photos – an example is the Rwanda project with John Jordan. Will also focus on the Mustard Seed and the cleanup at Carnarvon Water Park.
