Dreaming is not bad, if you make dreams come true

Vicky was our very effective and entertaining Celebrations Master, yet again.

Wolf won the 50/50 draw of $13.50 but not the right marble.

Sandy introduced our speakers, Juliana Wigmore and Heather Croft, who shared information from their Project, Matoto, multicultural arts society in Kobian, Guinea.

Share the arts. inspire change. transform lives.

Guinea, West Africa, has one of the lowest literacy rates in the world. 60% of adults are illiterate, this is mainly due to children staying home to assist their family with subsistence farming.

Matoto’s missions is simple:

Offer a hand-up to the children and community of Kobian, Guinea

We asked the community how we could help. Their reply: Help build a school for our kids. In 2012, we raised the funds to build it. Now, our goal is to keep it running, add more classrooms, and offer training for teachers.

3 ways you can help:

  1. Support the ongoing operation of the school including teacher salaries & supplies
  2. Buy from our shop or merchant supporters to fund school operations and the Arts in BC
  3. Support Matoto with your time and energy by getting involved with the society

Perry thanked our speakers and presented them each with a Rotary Club of Oak Bay mug.

We finished the meeting by reciting the Rotary 4-way test.
